Spade Sorgoff is a high-ranking Poseidian general during the Age of Heroes. He serves as the defense chief of King Ogthar, in charge of the ground assault on the Dinotopian mainland and achieves some notable victories, including the Battle of the Backbone Mountains. Spade meets his end at the Battle of Waterfall Fortress, where he is defeated by the Saurian Knights and Blake Terrapin.

Dinotopia: First Flight[]
When Ogthar initiates his invasions of mainland Dinotopia, Spade is put in charge of the ground assault campaigns. As Ogthar's right-hand man, Spade is privy to Ogthar's plans, and they frequently discusses war strategies.
Spade leads the Poseidian forces to victory at the Battle of the Backbone Mountains, defeating a force of resistance fighters and Carnosaurs. Spade partakes in the battle himself, steering an armada-class strutter. The battle is part of the Northern assault on the Rainy Basin. Spade's victory allows the Poseidian forces to enter the basin.
Spade attends a private dinner with Ogthar in Poseidos, where both consume meat from killed dinosaurs. Later, Spade leads the Poseidian strutter army to the Rainy Basin. The Poseidians are able to capture a group, including Blake Terrapin, in the basin. The Poseidians then march to Waterfall Fortress. While the strutter army bombard the fortress with flaming projectiles from catapults, Spade takes the captives upstream and sends them on a boat towards the waterfalls. The captives break free, and Blake manages to bond with the Tyrannosaur, Red Face. Together with the Saurian Knights, Blake fends off a Poseidian attack along the Polongo River. As the main strutter force assaults Waterfall Fortress and climbs up its walls, Blake engages Spade in combat. Spade operates his own personal strutter, a large crab-like machine. Blake and the Red Face, aided by their friends, defeat Spade, who plunges over the waterfalls in his strutter. Spade's death demoralizes the Poseidian forces, who retreat back to Poseidos.
