Hohepa was the leader of the Saurian Knights, a group of Pelledrine warriors during the Age of Heroes. Malakor was his second-in-command at the Battle of Waterfall Fortress.

Hohepa oversaw the training of young knights and acted as a mentor to Nina Griggs, Toby Ostrander, and Blake Terrapin. Hohepa trained prospective knights in the physical, mental, and spiritual arts.
Hohepa once parleyed with a force of Poseidian shield strutters at Buckthorn Creek, saving a hatchery in Moss Valley. This caused the Armakians to break off their alliance with the Saurian Knights.
After Blake Terrapin was recruited into the Saurian Knights, Hohepa oversaw his training in Gorgonia. Hohepa showed Blake how to keep peace with the Tyrannosaurs, such as helping them by removing thorns from their feet. Hohepa highlighted that this had to be done the right way; some recruits had done it wrong and ended up eaten. Hohepa taught Blake to learn both composure and decisive action, and instructed him in the "art of the sword and shield". He showed Blake Tyrannosaurs up close at the Angwat Keep platform outside Gorgonia. Blake helped the Tyrannosaur, Red Face, who offered Blake a gesture of respect. The gesture astonished Hohepa, who had only seen similar gestures once or twice before.
Hohepa later commanded a force of Saurian Knights at the Battle of Waterfall Fortress.
