Dinotopia: CD-ROM Adventure Game, also known as Dinotopia: Living the Adventure or just Dinotopia, is a 1996 CD-ROM game developed by The Dreamers Guild and published by Turner Interactive for MS-DOS. The game is based on the first two Dinotopia books, Dinotopia: A Land Apart from Time (1992) and Dinotopia: The World Beneath (1995), though features an original story of its own set more than a decade later.
The CD-ROM Adventure Game sees the player take the role of the dolphinback Nathan Drake as he searches for his sister Constance across Dinotopia, a storyline developed to feature conflict but still keep the game in-line with the pacifistic utopia of the Dinotopia books. The developers of the game worked closely with James Gurney to make sure his vision of the spirit of the original world was reflected. In addition to animated game elements, the CD-ROM Adventure Game makes extensive use of live actors and dinosaur animatronics. The CD-ROM Adventure Game was released in 1996 to largely positive reviews.
