Budge is a male mammal-like reptile called an Estemmenosuchus. These amazing creatures actually lived before the time of the dinosaurs. Budge looks like a bulldog with antlers — but stay on his good side, because his talent is biting hard and holding on!

Plot[]
Dinotopia: First Flight[]
Budge, alongside the fellow swamp-dwellers Binny and Bongo, met Gideon Altaire and Bandy when they made their way through Mukkawukka Swamp to bring the Ruby Sunstone to Highnest. Binny, Bongo, and Budge chose to join them out of the fear that Mukkawukka Swamp would be next if the Poseidians took out Highnest. Deep in the swamp they were suddenly attacked by a sprog, which captured Gideon. Although Gideon's new friends managed to free him, a hoverhead grabbed the Ruby Sunstone and flew it back to Poseidos. Upon reaching Highnest, the group first helped the pterosaurs there to move their eggs into a safe locations deep in the local canyons and then began to prepare for an impending Poseidian assault. In order to scout for Poseidian forces, the pterosaurs offered to carry them up into the air. Budge rode on Zanzibar, a Tropeognathus. Highnest soon came under attack from a Poseidian force consisting of drones and a great Air Scorpion, piloted by Roff Stricker. Gideon, the creatures, and the pterosaurs managed to bring the Air Scorpion down, saving Highnest and keeping the Ruby Sunstone out of Poseidian control for the moment.[2]
